2009 Graduate!

grad⋅u⋅a⋅tion
1. an act of graduating; the state of being graduated.
2. the ceremony of conferring degrees or diplomas, as at a college or school.
3. arrangement in degrees, levels, or ranks.

At first I thought this was just a silly preschool thing and didn't give it much thought until a few days ago when it hit me that this event will mark the end of an era for our daughter. Gone are the days where learning ABCs and 123's is the main focus of the day. Where playtime is the highlight of the day. A time when pigtails and bows were fun and mismatched clothing went unnoticed.

I guess I saw the changes coming slowly at first then all of a sudden it hit me that Mia has changed and is now embarking on a new path in her life. She will enter Kindergarten this year as a confident young lady, gone is the awkward preschooler.

This past year Mia had two wonderful teachers, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Tracey, both loving and dedicated to education. It is amazing what a child is capable of learning when you have the one key ingredient: great teachers! A special thanks to both teachers!

MIA, CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE! WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU!

In Holland it is customary to hang your child's school bag on a flag pole to announce they have passed their exams (graduated). In keeping with Dutch tradition we hung Mia's school bag as well!
